Abstract
With the increasing penetration of wind power generation, the operation reliability of the power system would be significantly impacted due to the uncertainty and volatility of wind generation. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of rapid power system operation risk assessment considering the correlation of wind generation. Firstly, a wind power scenario-constructing approach is presented. The proposed approach employs the Latin hypercube sampling to construct wind power generation scenarios while considering the correlation of wind generation. Then, the risk-oriented benefit function is adopted to evaluate the risk indices of the constructed scenarios. In order to improve the computation performance, a searching method based on the steady-state security region is applied to avoid redundant calculation of a large number of secure scenarios. The method is validated on a modified IEEE 30-bus system, and the simulation results verify that the proposed method is feasible and applicable. The computational performance of the method is also examined.
