Abstract

A new kind of cleaning agent for aging insulators in power grid was reported, which can recover its hydrophobicity and insulation performance. The effects of different nonionic surfactants (MSDS) and repairing agents contents on the surface tension, washing efficiency, insulator contact angle, post washing hydrophobicity, post washing loss and transference of hydrophobicity were investigated. Experiments show that the cleaning efficiency is best when the MSDS content is 3%, and the average contact angle of the insulator after washing is about 126°. When the content of the repairing agent is 11%, its performance is the most superior in all aspects, and its hydrophobicity is the best, which can reach the HC1 level.
