Abstract
A multi-pass Thomson scattering (MPTS) diagnostic system is primarily designed for the HUST Field-Reversed Configuration (HFRC) plasma device. To meet the requirements of high repetition frequency and high TS signal intensity at the same time, one burst of 15 Nd:YAG laser pulses of 50kHz, passing through a polarization-based coaxial multi-pass configuration which enhances scattering light intensity, serves as the laser source of the system. The system covers half plasma cross section, analyzing scattering light by interference-filter avalanche photodiode based polychromators. The expected measurability of this design, namely an electron temperature of 100eV to 1keV and 4 spatial points with 2cm resolution, satisfies the requirements of the HFRC in the near future.
