Abstract
To solve the problem of magnetic field distortion at the longitudinal ends, a 2-D analytical model considering the longitudinal end effect of permanent magnet electrodynamic suspension system is proposed in this paper. The electromagnetic force produced by the system is calculated using Maxwell Stress Tensor method. The accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by comparing the analytical solution with FEA simulation. Finally, the configuration of the permanent magnet electrodynamic suspension device is optimized exploiting the multi-objective particle swam optimization algorithm, where the optimal pole pitch of the Halbach array is studied
